![]() ![]() You could say the same thing about Holy Matrimony - it was antishippy, because Musashi wanted Kojiro to marry another woman just because she wanted the money. Something “antishippy“ happens, for the sake of huge Rocketshipping. ![]() Junki Takegami’s episodes have always been like that. Of course the whole episode was rushed here and there and was somewhat messy (you could tell it was written by two writers), so I get your But well, I’ll say, ignore these little things, because after all, Pokemon has always been like that. I think you can call this episode anything but antishippy. And one more thing I want to stress, she wasn’t choosing between love and her loyalty for TR, but between love and friends (note to Musashi: why choose? with Kojiro, you can have both D) She wasn’t giving up her happiness! She decided who makes her MORE happier! Which is of course, her friends. It was obvious it was her reply to her dilemma from earlier. It was obvious enough from this scene but additionally, during the ending Musashi said “In Team Rocket, I have the greatest friends by my side“. It was only so she could see the corelation to her own friends. Musashi getting rejected wasn’t a point of this scene at all. That was when Musashi decided to help her friends. Because that was what the doctor was telling his friend - that she’s the most important person to him, so it’s natural he’d worry. The point of the whole “confession“ (well, it never got to the confession point) scene was to make Musashi realize who’s the most important to her. Because a few words were missed here and there. Maybe it was because you watched the English version which, maybe wasn’t that badly translated as usual, but still, it was more vague than Japanese version. (And if he’s right in front of her stupid face why hasn’t she NOTICED yet?!) Ultimately her loyalty is Team Rocket, even if she yearns for something more. At the end, she looks sad as she tosses the flowers away…it could symbolize her giving UP happiness because it’s not meant for her. I think where a lot of shippers see the end as the Doctor confessing to his love interest reminding her of what really matters to her, but it can also be seen as personal sacrifice for Jessie. When he didn’t, and when he made it clear she was decidedly not in his radar, THEN she decides to go help James. Heartthrob for some reason! What was her plan there? To get help against the dangerous pokemon thief from the local doctor who said to just stay away from him? That doesn’t make any sense unless she was just hoping HE’D get help for James and she wouldn’t have to give up her identity. So yeah, “to hell with you I’m off to pursue my own happiness.“ Jessie being narcissistic isn’t exactly news though.īut then, during everyone’s favourite scene, when James staggers back (pretty heavily injured), their pokemon - including Meowth - stolen, does Jessie run out to check on him, even after hearing him beg their ARCH ENEMIES for help so he doesn’t have to disturb her? Or jump to save her *own* pokemon? No, she actually stands there and ponders for a moment. ![]() Not that they’re the most reliable narrators. She starts off by declaring (yet AGAIN) she’s leaving Team Rocket for one of her passing delusions - this one being a little eerie considering she was apparently ready to marry a guy who showed little to no interest in her other than her initial rescue, making you question pretty much any romantic tale she’s told in the past. No, James’ behaviour isn’t all that surprising as sweet as it was, it was Jessie who concerned me more. Certainly James shows his feelings but like, when doesn’t he? If anyone doesn’t need to declare their undying love it’s the dude who pretty much does it every episode. So XY 63 has gone down as one of the more pivotal Rocketshippy episodes in recent memory, but I remember coming out of it feeling more disturbed than touched. Unpopular opinion: XY 63 is kinda antishippy ![]()
